Team BAM

Our Founders

Andrew Raiher and Mathew Chaney are longtime volleyball partners and close friends—connected through years of games, laughter, and community. But in June 2025, they faced an unimaginable loss when their friend Brian “Bam” Markle suffered sudden cardiac arrest on the court with them. In the aftermath, what started as an effort to honor their friend quickly grew into something much larger than they ever anticipated. Project BAM is their commitment to making sure that lifesaving help is always within reach—because every second counts.

Andrew Raiher

I’m Andrew Raiher, a British-American musician and composer based in Los Angeles. My life’s work has been in music, but nothing prepared me for the day we lost our friend Brian “Bam” Markle to sudden cardiac arrest while playing volleyball together.

What began as unimaginable tragedy has led me here, co-founding Project BAM to make sure lifesaving equipment and training are available when they’re needed most. Though this is not the path I ever expected, I feel deeply honored to carry Bam’s name forward through this work.

Mathew Chaney

Mathew Chaney is a Partner at Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney (EYRC) Architects, where he leads major institutional and commercial studios, serving as principal‑in‑charge on landmark projects like UC San Diego’s Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood and the Pendry Hotel + Residences in West Hollywood .

Off the drafting table, Mathew is a lifelong athlete—equally at home on indoor courts and beach volleyball sands. Drawing on years of playing the sport he loves, he brings teamwork, resilience. Resilience he didn’t know he’d need when he was thrown into attempting to ressucitate his good friend, BAM, and eventually co-founding Project BAM, to honor what was an unthinkable loss.
