We’re a group of friends and community members who lost someone we loved — Brian “Bam” Markle — to sudden cardiac arrest on the beach in Santa Monica. Now, we’re turning our grief into action.

Project BAM is a community-led nonprofit working to prevent sudden cardiac deaths in outdoor spaces by increasing access to AEDs and CPR training. We began in Santa Monica after the tragic loss of our friend Brian “Bam” Markle — and we’re committed to making sure help is never too far away again. We’re the people who loved Bam — the strongest, kindest, most generous guy you could meet. When we lost him, we made a promise: This won’t happen again.

Project BAM is our promise in action — to install lifesaving AEDs where people play, gather, and live their lives. To train neighbors to become first responders. To turn pain into prevention.
